This Fellowes Powershred 100-Percent Jam Proof 79Ci is the quietest shredder I have used. It runs so smoothly and is stable when operating. So far, it is the best home shredder I have used and is worth spending more money on. I have gone through 2-3 cheaper models and glad I finally decided to get a better quality machine like this one.

The engineering/design on this Fellowes Powershred 100-Percent Jam Proof 79Ci shredder seems tops! I've had (or used at work) more than a few different shredders over the years, and this one is the best I've ever used, despite the fairly high price. The lights that indicate how much paper you can put in at one time is pretty useful.
And the best part is, if you put too much paper in there (though the red light will go on), it will still shred it for you.

• A lot quieter than most due to an induction motor, which is important in an office environment and even at home-I can shred in the middle of the night and not wake up others in the house. Compared to other shredders, it's almost amazing how quiet this one is-very elegant.
• Comes with wheels that you can install to make it easy to move around. I wheel it from my home office, into a closet fairly regularly if I'm having guests over for example.
• Has great safety features and indicator LEDs.
• Can shred CDs/DVDs as well as credit cards in addition to up to 14 pieces of paper at once.

• Pricey, but worth it since it's a cut above other cheaper ones.
• A bit on the large side and fairly heavy, but fairly easily stow-able in a closet, especially if you install the included wheels. I do wish it was slightly smaller though.

If you are on the fence about spending this much on a shredder, I would recommend you go for it. Although it may be more than you would like to spend, this will pay for itself in ease of use and gracefulness over the years.

Just remember that you should use the shredder lubricant sheets to keep everything running smoothly. This product comes with a small bottle of oil, but the shredder lubricant sheets are less messy and I'm all about convenience and efficiency.
